The Dospat dam collects the waters of the Dospat river in the western Rhodopes. Located 12 km., from the “Big swamp” it is elevated at 1200 meters above sea level and ranks among the largest and most voluminous dams in Bulgaria where enthusiasts can fish carp, trout, chub, perch, rudd and bream. Phenomenal landscapes surround the dam and they have been a traditional attraction for professional and amateur photographers ever since the dam was built.
